Romantic & Ruinous Bookclub

This month, Romantic & Ruinous turns to a classic that still refuses to behave: Wuthering Heights.

Hosted by Saleema, this is the second book in the Romantic & Ruinous book club, and a chance to spend time with a novel that continues to provoke, divide, and fascinate.

Obsessive, unsettling, and rich with atmosphere, the book takes love seriously without offering comfort. It raises difficult questions about desire, power, cruelty, and attachment, and it rewards both first-time readers and those returning to it with fresh eyes.

Expect strong opinions, close reading, and a conversation that carries on long after we’ve closed the book.

We’ll be continuing the book club with Son of the Morning by Akwaeke Emezi as our next read on Monday 9 March, moving from gothic intensity into a very different register of love, power, and obsession.
